WRC rejects Eddie Rockets worker’s Sunday and public holiday pay complaints

The Workplace Relations Commission found Nora Filmus’s complaints against Eddie Rockets (Irl) Ltd not well founded. Adjudication Officer Jim Dolan’s decision was dated 15 October 2024. Filmus, who worked as restaurant waiting staff, said she had not received the correct Sunday premium or public holiday pay. Her contract set a Sunday rate of €13.70 an hour, compared with a basic rate of €12.70. The company said it had paid the contractual Sunday rate and handled public holidays under the Organisation of Working Time Act. The officer found that the Sunday rate had been paid. For public holidays, the employer had chosen to provide an additional day’s pay, which the officer found compliant. Both complaints failed.
