WRC dismisses Sweeney’s minimum-notice claims against Bidvest Noonan

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed two minimum-notice complaints by Jessica Sweeney against Bidvest Noonan (R OI) ltd, finding her employment had not ended. The decision was dated 4 December 2024. Sweeney said she was owed statutory notice or payment in lieu and rights during a notice period. The adjudicator found that the end of a cleaning placement did not terminate her employment, so the minimum-notice protections did not apply. Her separate complaint that she had not been notified in writing of a change to her work base was outside the statutory time limit; she had not sought an extension. The banded-hours complaint and another minimum-notice complaint were withdrawn.
