The Workplace Relations Commission found that complaints by a former member of An Garda Síochána about protected disclosures and constructive dismissal were not well founded. The decision was dated 25 February 2026.
The complainant, who had served as treasurer of an organisation associated with An Garda Síochána, raised concerns about its funds, an acting-up allowance and related tax issues. He alleged he was penalised and had to retire early. AGS denied penalising him.
The officer found the communications did not concern an act or omission by AGS and were not protected disclosures in the context of the complainant’s employment with the force. The decision also records that the Unfair Dismissals Act does not apply to a member of An Garda Síochána, a point the complainant did not dispute.
