WRC does not recommend in favour of technical officer in promotion dispute

The Workplace Relations Commission did not recommend in favour of a technical officer who challenged the selection and appeals process for a Senior Technical Officer post. The recommendation, dated 5 January 2024, followed his unsuccessful application. He argued that a circular and conciliation agreement were not followed, interview criteria were weighted incorrectly and he was denied the proper appeal process. The technical university said its recruitment and appeals procedures had been agreed with the union representing the grade. The adjudication officer found the selection and appeals process followed the agreed procedures and did not recommend in favour of the employee.
