The Workplace Relations Commission found an employee’s complaint about his dismissal not well founded in a decision dated 10 November 2023. The employee said he was dismissed after an altercation with a colleague and a meeting in which the managing director suggested he leave. The employer cited earlier concerns about aggressive and inappropriate behaviour, supported by written complaints and statements, while acknowledging there had been no independent investigation and not all disciplinary procedures were followed. The adjudication officer found that the employer dismissed him after assessing his performance during a six-month probation period and was entitled to end the agreement. His salary was paid through February 2023, and he started another job in March.
