The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Mary Molloy €4,036.62 after finding her employer, Northwest Roscommon Cdp Ltd, had not given her the minimum notice required when her job ended. The decision was dated 5 April 2024. Molloy had worked as a Job Club Leader in County Roscommon since April 2007 and earned €576.66 gross a week. Her employer argued that a letter sent in May 2022 gave notice and said it had hoped she would transfer to the organisation taking over the service. The adjudication officer found the letter did not mention notice or termination. The employer learned on 22 August 2022 that redundancies would occur, and Molloy was told her employment was ending on 24 August. After more than 15 years’ service, she was entitled to eight weeks’ notice but received one week. The award covers the seven-week shortfall.
