The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed PJ Moran’s pension complaint against Galway & Roscommon Education Board (GRETB) as out of time in a decision dated 14 September 2023. The merits were not decided.
Moran said the Board had not told him that service after age 66 would not count towards his pension. The Board said its calculation followed scheme rules. The adjudication officer found that even using Moran’s stated employment end date, the complaint was received more than three years later. Attempts to resolve the matter through other bodies did not prevent him from filing a WRC complaint within the applicable time limit.
