The WRC recommended against a worker’s request to be placed higher on the clerical officer pay scale and receive back pay. The decision was dated 23 January 2023. The worker said her previous public-sector experience should have placed her at point six. The employer said she was appointed at point one through open competition and her earlier role was not analogous. The adjudicator found the clerical officer scale’s maximum was lower than the maximum in her previous role, so the move was not a promotion and point one was appropriate. The officer said she could not make a recommendation in the worker’s favour.
