The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed John Meehan’s complaint against St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Social Care Company Limited by Guarantee t/a Crosscare. The decision was dated 13 September 2023. Mr Meehan claimed disciplinary action penalised him for raising a grievance. Mr Meehan brought the complaint under the Employment Permits Act 2006 but conceded that the subject of his complaint did not fall within its penalisation provisions or those of the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. The adjudicator dismissed it as frivolous and vexatious under section 42(1) of the Workplace Relations Act 2015. The separate time-limit objection and the merits of the alleged penalisation were not decided.
