WRC recommends €2,000 over delayed media clarification

The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that an employer send an agreed clarification to the media and pay a worker €2,000 for delay. The recommendation was dated 14 October 2022. The worker had been cleared in an earlier investigation, but an agreed statement about her exoneration had not been sent to the press. The employer opposed a press advertisement, citing possible distress to clients and staff, but agreed that a statement should be sent to the media. The WRC also recommended circulating an appropriate note to staff at two locations.
