The Workplace Relations Commission directed Raymark Engineering Limited to pay Pascal Mooney €7,038.72 after finding it dismissed him without the statutory notice. The decision was dated 27 May 2022. Mooney had worked for the company for about 19 years, earning €879.84 a week. He said it closed overnight in March 2020 and that staff were told a liquidator would pay their entitlements. The company did not dispute his claim or service, but did not attend the hearing. The officer found Mooney was entitled to eight weeks’ notice pay. He also accepted that there was reasonable cause for the complaint to be lodged after the six-month time limit, noting the short delay and the company’s statements about liquidation.
