WRC recommends six weeks’ pay per year for redundant senior specialist

The WRC recommended that a software provider pay a senior specialist six weeks’ pay per year of service on top of her statutory redundancy entitlement. The recommendation was dated 30 August 2022. The worker sought eight weeks’ pay per year, citing sector practice and the employer’s profitability. The employer said it had met its statutory obligations and offered an additional goodwill payment, which she rejected. The adjudication officer found that an extra payment in line with other companies in the sector should be made.
