The WRC recommended that a hospital doctor renew his approach to the Tripartite Committee over credit for his overseas registrar experience. The recommendation was dated 4 May 2022. The doctor, represented by the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO), argued his New Zealand experience entitled him to a higher point on the Senior House Officer salary scale. The hospital said he had not completed the required 24 months’ post-internship experience before taking a registrar post, and that it had already credited his overseas work on the Senior House Officer scale. Adjudication Officer Pat Brady said the dispute raised a national question about interpreting the agreement and that proper procedures had not been exhausted. The committee should convene within four weeks of the doctor’s renewed approach and issue a written, reasoned determination within six weeks.
