WRC rejects childcare worker’s protected disclosure penalisation complaints

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found that childcare worker Hayley Simmonds’s two protected disclosure penalisation complaints against Home From Home Childcare Limited were not well founded. The decision was dated 26 January 2024. The WRC accepted that Simmonds made protected disclosures about workplace bullying and health and safety, and that transferring her duties to another room was a detriment. It found, however, that the transfer resulted from staffing difficulties rather than her disclosures. The complaints were therefore rejected.
