The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Orbit Security Limited to pay Ryan Laird €2,106.42 for unpaid holidays and €500 compensation after finding his complaint well founded. The decision was dated 21 February 2023. Laird said he received no annual leave between January and August 2019, when his employment ended. The respondent did not attend the hearing, and the adjudication officer assessed the claim using Laird’s uncontested evidence. The officer estimated that he had worked 1,443 hours and was entitled to four weeks of annual leave. The award includes €2,106.42 for unpaid holidays and €500 for the failure to pay outstanding annual leave when his employment ended. The complaint was made under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997.
