The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a former administration leader and a community company jointly seek funding for enhanced redundancy terms. The recommendation was dated 23 November 2016. The worker said she received only statutory redundancy when made redundant and sought an extra three weeks’ pay per year of service. The adjudicator said Labour Court precedents supported an industry norm of three extra weeks’ ex gratia redundancy for social workers and that she should not be treated differently. The respondent did not attend the hearing. The recommendation was for the parties to contact the relevant funding authority together to seek the additional funding for the extra redundancy payment.
