The WRC found that a specialist clinic’s dismissal of a laser skin therapist was fair and reasonable in a decision dated 24 November 2016. The therapist’s complaint under the Industrial Relations Acts was not well founded. The therapist said she had not been told that a meeting could lead to dismissal and was not allowed a representative. The clinic said three clients had complained of burns after treatment and that the therapist had acknowledged failures to follow protocols. The WRC noted the therapist’s concerns about procedure but found the facts about the three clients were not in dispute. It said the protocol failures had legal and financial consequences for the clinic and found the termination fair and reasonable.
