The Labour Court rejected appeals by South Dublin County Council and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and recommended that a £1,000 settlement for a transferred worker stand. Its decision was dated 15 June 1999. The worker lost travel and subsistence payments after moving from depot duties to work at the Council’s headquarters in Tallaght. The Court found that the agreement limited those payments to engineers who remained at their depots, but recommended the settlement because the worker had received the benefit for a long period before his transfer.
