In 1994, the Labour Court rejected Curiosity Productions Limited’s appeal and upheld a recommendation that holiday credits for seven electricians be calculated at 4/52 of gross pay. The decision was signed on 13 December 1994. The Court said a revised industry agreement on holiday credits should be reached. The dispute arose from the electricians’ work during production of The Old Curiosity Shop at Ardmore Studios in Bray. Curiosity Productions proposed credits based on one week of basic pay, saying that matched the basis used for other technicians. The Technical Engineering And Electrical Union argued the traditional gross-pay calculation should apply because it had no agreement with the company to change it.
