The Labour Court upheld a £700 unfair dismissal recommendation for Vincent M Murphy in a decision signed on 4 August 1988. Murphy had appealed against Tirebad Limited after being dismissed from his chef job.
Murphy was dismissed after refusing to take on waiting duties as well as his kitchen work. The Court found he was unfairly dismissed and upheld the Rights Commissioner’s £700 payment recommendation. It also amended the recommendation to require Tirebad Limited to withdraw in writing statements it made to the Department of Social Welfare about Murphy’s conduct.
