The Labour Court dismissed the Electrical Electronic Telecommunications and Plumbing Union’s appeal over retrospective double-time pay for two plumbers employed by the Office Of Public Works. In a decision dated 21 November 1986, it left the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation unchanged. The union sought double time for overtime worked after 8.30pm. The Office Of Public Works said the plumbers had received the rates agreed in 1972. The higher rate had applied to them from 1 August 1985.
