Labour Court postpones Irish Turf Club worker’s Sunday-racing appeal

The Labour Court deferred an unnamed worker’s appeal concerning access to Irish Turf Club Sunday Point-to-Point race work. In a decision signed on 3 August 2012, it said it would reconvene the hearing after considering related collective issues. The merits were not decided. The worker’s union argued he was excluded because he declined voluntary Sunday work beyond his contractual 25 Sundays a year. The Irish Turf Club said Point-to-Point Sundays were offered primarily to staff available for additional hours.
