The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that the Health Service Executive pay a worker, a General Manager, an €8,000 annual allowance backdated to the agreement’s implementation. The decision was signed on 30 December 2010. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, sought an allowance negotiated in 2004 for General Managers who belonged to another union. The HSE argued it was restricted to people holding a specified position when the agreement was implemented and said extending it could cost more than €2.5 million, plus €300,000 annually.
