Labour Court urges talks on Tivoli Training Centre instructor’s pay

The Labour Court said Tivoli Training Centre and the union should actively work to resolve a pay dispute involving an instructor. In its decision dated 30 March 2006, the Court said the Centre’s link to FÁS Community Workshop salary scales had been broken without agreement. The union sought to restore the link and obtain retrospective payments. The Centre said it lacked the resources to fund increases and was operating at a deficit; the union did not dispute its financial position. The Court said discussions should prioritise an urgent response from the Department of Finance. The worker was represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union.
