The Labour Court dismissed a worker’s appeal and upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that the Office Of Public Works pay him €200 over the allocation of public holiday work. The decision was signed on 6 February 2006. The seasonal General Operative/Bus Driver at the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre also challenged how the Rights Commissioner handled complaints about intimidation by a colleague and the OPW’s grievance process. The Rights Commissioner treated the intimidation issue as a civil matter and noted that the worker had not used the employer’s bullying and harassment policy. The worker claimed financial loss of about €13,000, but the recommendation concerned the €200 public holiday payment. The Labour Court considered both parties’ submissions, upheld the recommendation and dismissed the appeal.
