The Labour Court amended a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation to require Iarnrod Eireann to make a worker a detailed voluntary severance offer. The decision was dated 18 July 2005. The worker, an electrician employed by the company since 1974, said his seniority had been ignored in relation to severance and that transfer requests had been blocked. The Rights Commissioner had found he was not eligible under the scheme at the time because it applied to Connolly Station. The Labour Court agreed with that finding, but the company told the Court circumstances had changed and it could now provide an offer.
