The Labour Court increased a recommended settlement to €21,000 after a worker appealed a proposed deal with Masterchef Hospitality Munster Ltd. The decision was dated 18 July 2005.
The Rights Commissioner had recommended €15,000 in return for the worker’s voluntary resignation and a full and final settlement of claims. The worker argued that the amount did not reflect the impact of his treatment. The company said an investigation found the bullying allegations unsubstantiated and that management had acted fairly.
The Court increased the compensation to €21,000 in full and final settlement of claims against the company, upheld the other aspects of the recommendation and noted that the employer had agreed to provide a reference.
