The Labour Court overturned a €15,000 compensation recommendation to a worker after allowing Allied Irish Bank’s appeal. The decision was dated 8 July 2005.
The worker had complained that the bank did not properly investigate her bullying and harassment allegations against a superior. The bank said it had conducted a fair and thorough investigation. The Court found the investigation comprehensive and said all witnesses nominated by the worker had been interviewed. It said interviewing people not specifically nominated could fail to comply with natural justice.
The Court also said the bank should renew its offer of counselling and a harassment-free workplace on the worker’s return.
