The Labour Court reduced a €3,000 recommendation to €2,000 on the Irish Blood Transfusion Service’s appeal, in a decision dated 12 December 2003. The case concerned subsistence payments for clinic visits lasting more than five hours, including retrospective payment. The union said the worker accepted the job on the understanding that existing allowance arrangements would continue. The Court found she had been misled to some degree at interview, but said this did not create an ongoing entitlement to the old payment basis. It considered €2,000 appropriate compensation.
