The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that Shinko Microelectronics Ireland Limited contribute £5,000 to a charity agreed with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The decision was signed on 6 March 2001 after both sides appealed. The dispute concerned the selection of team leaders for four supervisory vacancies. The Court found transparency was lacking and agreed that the appointments appeared not to have been made in full consideration of all candidates. It dismissed both appeals and found no basis to increase the amount or change the method of payment.
