The Labour Court recommended that St Michael’s Hospital immediately arrange a security survey, provide resources to act on its findings, and assign responsibility and a budget for security. The decision was signed on 26 June 2000. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union appealed a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation after a night porter reported being threatened and raised concerns about hospital security. The Court found little evidence that significant action had been taken and said the hospital’s investigation was unclear.
