The Connolly’s Field development in Dundalk will begin to welcome the first tenants in early 2026, local councillors heard this week.

The 70 apartments, which front on to Hill Street and the Avenue Road, is designed for people over 55 years old. Offers have been made to 58 potential tenants in the last few days.

Dundalk Municipal councillors were told that as the development is for older people all of the units have been designed with level access showers.

A large number of allocations have been through Louth County Council’s Social Worker for medical and disability needs.

Cllr. Marianne Butler told the December meeting of the Municipal District that tenants are “absolutely delighted” to have received letters confirming they will be moving in to Connolly’s Field in the new year.

"But can we get a firmer timeline on that and the next steps?”

She added that some of the units will be available through the Choice Based Letting (CBL) system.

"But for the people who were nominated, what is the timeline for them to get their keys and be able to move in?”

Declan Grimes, Senior Engineer (Housing) told the meeting that if tenants accept the offers made, the Approved Housing Body (AHB) Fold will receive notice.

The AHB will set up an office within the Connolly’s Field development to meet with potential tenants, said Mr. Grimes.

"It will at this stage be the new year, but the minute we send over the names, Fold will start allocating the properties to tenants.”

The remaining 12 units will be advertised on the council’s letting portal CBL from 16th December, and will remain open for six days.
