‘Winter Lights’ returning to Dublin in December with expanded set of locations

Dublin City Council’s popular ‘Winter Lights’ Christmas-themed attraction is set to return to the streets of the capital in December, lighting up 25 city centre locations over the festive period.
Many popular lighting installations that featured in previous years, like projections on the Custom House and GPO buildings are set to return, with new displays coming to Meeting Square House, Temple Bar Square and Dublin Castle.
As in previous years, the GPO will feature dynamic lighting projections from eight Irish and international artists.
George’s Dock will also feature 100 dramatic beams of light illuminating the sky.
A children’s art competition is also running as part of Winter Lights, with the artworks to be projected onto Barnardo Square beside Dublin Castle.
The popular Merrion Square Winter Lights event is also returning. It introduces an interactive lighting experience to the city-centre park in the evenings, from 5pm, with walk-through installations and an immersive kaleidoscope available to visitors.
Lord Mayor Ray McAdam said that in just a few short years, the Winter Lights events quickly become one of the city’s leading Christmas attractions.
"If you’ve never seen them before, or if you have and you just want to experience some Christmas cheer on these dark nights, come into town, see the lights and make some new memories,” he said.
