Males are paid 5.13% more than females in Dublin city, new figures reveal.

According to Dublin City Council’s 2025 Gender Pay Gap Report, men continue to earn more than women in the city with the mean gender pay gap increasing from 4.41% in 2025 to 5.13% this year. However, the median gender pay gap went down from 3.31% in 2024 to 3.20%.

Significant recruitment campaigns within male dominated careers, such as firefighters and paramedics was one reason cited for the increase. Dublin City Council’s Gender Pay Gap figures the last 3 years are as follows:

The report was based on employers in Ireland with more than 50 employees and was collected by Dublin City Council as well as local authorities around the country. In a statement the Council stressed that all employers in local government are paid equally for work of equal value.
