Dublin’s four local authorities join forces for Climate Action Week 2026

The four Dublin local authorities are coming together to support the environment for Climate Action week.
Dublin City Council has announced that this year's Climate Action Week will take place from May 11 to 17, and will showcase a range of climate themes and ongoing projects aimed at tackling climate action . Delivered in partnership with Dún Laoghaire - Rathdown County Council, Dublin City Council , Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council, the Dublin Metropolitan Climate Action Regional Office (CARO) and Codema (Dublin’s Energy Agency), this is an important example of cross collaboration for a common goal.
Coinciding with National Bike Week and National Biodiversity Week, this year’s Climate Action Week will tap into themes of sustainable transport, climate solutions and Dublin’s nature and wildlife. Through workshops, interactive activities and demonstrations participants will have the opportunity to learn how everyday changes can contribute to a more climate sustainable future.
“We are delighted to launch Dublin Climate Action Week 2026. This collaboration with National Bike Week and National Biodiversity Week will present a fantastic range of events, encouraging all to participate in meaningful action towards a climate resilient future. We would encourage everyone to get involved and make the most of this important week,” a spokesperson from Dublin City Council stated.
Climate Action Week is Ireland’s largest pop-up climate festival and has been coordinated by An Taisce since 2017, on behalf of the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment. Past events include neon bike discos, tree planting, forest bathing, movie screenings, sustainable foodie trails, repair cafes, neighbourhood dinner parties, storytelling, dance exhibitions, panel discussions, even cabaret and comedy nights.
Last year’s Climate Action Week saw a variety of free and paid events both online and offline. From swap shops and repair cafes to a climate games night, those passionate about the environment and sustainability will have an opportunity to meet with like-minded activists.
Getting involved is a great way to strengthen connections between groups, businesses, and organisations within the community. A full programme of events will open for bookings in mid-April 2026 and more details can be found at www.dublinclimateactionweek.ie.
