Dublin City Council champions inclusive sports programme for Pride 2026

Let’s get physical, as Dublin City Council supports an inclusive sports programme for Pride 2026.
As a main sponsor for this year's Pride activities , DCC through the Sports & Recreation Services Section are delivering an extensive programme of inclusive sport, fitness and wellbeing events throughout June. Giving people of all backgrounds a chance to take part in Pride through physical activity, these events foster community connection.
Two major marquee events headline this year’s Pride sports programme:
Further Pride themed activities will also take place in Dublin City Council sports and community centres. With inclusive fitness classes, aqua sessions, cycling, dance, and community-based activities, they are designed to ensure participation is possible for all.
Lord Mayor Ray McAdam described Pride 2026 as an opportunity to highlight the role sports can play in “bringing people together and building inclusive communities”. Whether you are part of a team, trying something new, or simply getting active, these events are about creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and supported. I would encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to come along, get involved and experience the positive, inclusive spirit of Pride through sport,” he said.
Beyond sport, DCC’s is also supporting Pride through public displays of the Pride flag, street activations and pop-up installations. This aims to reinforce a message “of visibility, inclusion and belonging”.
Central to the festivities is the Dublin Pride Parade, which attracts over 100,000 participants and embodies themes of connection and equality across communities. Dublin City Council invites individuals, teams, and community groups to be part of Pride 2026 and experience the benefits of inclusive sport and wellbeing across the city.
