Stoneybatter Pride of Place have been crowned the overall winners of the Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards 2025.

The ceremony celebrates the dedication of volunteers who work tirelessly to enhance their local areas. With a top prize of €4,500, the awards were held in the Clayton Hotel in Ballsbridge.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Ray McAdam presented the prize and praised all nominees for representing “the very heart and soul of our capital — our communities.” At the 21st Annual Dublin City Council Neighbourhood Awards, Cllr McAdam highlighted the role the ceremony plays in recognizing those who work to improve Dublin.

“For more than two decades, these awards have shone a light on the extraordinary spirit of Dubliners — the residents, volunteers, community groups, schools, and local businesses who give their time, energy, and imagination to make our city better,” he said.

“From the northside to the southside, from the inner city to the suburbs, every corner of Dublin has its own story of pride and progress. Together, those stories weave the fabric of a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant Dublin — a living city powered by people who care deeply about the place they call home.”

Stoneybatter Pride of Place earned the judges praise for planting many colourful flowers and plants along Manor Street and Stoneybatter. With monthly clean-ups involving up to 50 participants, they have adopted Stoneybatter Green as the focal point of their community.

The group also works with many statutory agencies to help put on the annual Stoneybatter Festival, a three-day event incorporating food, arts, crafts and many more activities each June.

They weren’t the only group to be recognised on the night. Finglas Tidy Towns took home the runners-up prize of €3,500 and were praised for their tireless volunteer work in “hail, rain, or snow.” The group’s efforts go beyond Finglas itself, as they have regularly lent a hand to other communities across Dublin, embodying the true spirit of local pride and solidarity.

Docklands Business Forum were the winners of the Overall Business Category and received a plaque and a prize of €1,500. With over 10,000 hours of volunteer work over the best 15 years, they work with business and residential communities during their special volunteer week which includes yoga, Tech Cáfe, heritage cruises of the bay, docklands clean-up and Biodiversity Day.

Sinéad Mooney, Organiser of Dublin City Council’s City Neighbourhood Awards said: "I’ve met such wonderful and passionate people along the way who are so committed to their city. The annual awards are all about recognising in a meaningful way the improvements made through the hundreds of hours of voluntary work done by people all over Dublin City. It recognises the work put in by residents, businesses and schools in this city to create, shape and enjoy all that is good about their area."
