This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Zara McCabe was ordered to complete 150 hours of community service in lieu of a two-year prison term for assault causing harm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 2 November 2022. The offence took place on Fleet Street, Dublin, on 4 November 2020.

McCabe had pleaded guilty to assaulting a homeless man after wrongly believing he had raped someone she knew. The report said she had 21 previous convictions, including assault, threats and road traffic offences.

Judge Martin Nolan said the assault was wrong and described the community service order as giving McCabe a considerable chance. The report said she was highly intoxicated and in poor mental health at the time, and that she had secured warehouse work since the previous November.
