William Kiely was jailed for six years for investor fraud at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, with the sentencing heard on 4 April 2025.

Kiely pleaded guilty to three counts of dishonestly appropriating money from Barrington Capital Ltd between 2007 and 2010, and to carrying on the company’s business with intent to defraud creditors. He also admitted falsifying a financial statement.

The court heard that the unauthorised stock market transactions lost about €2 million in property investors’ funds. Judge Elma Sheahan said the losses and their impact on investors were aggravating factors. Kiely was also disqualified from serving as a company director for five years.
