Questioned by Caroline Biggs, defending, Charlie Brodigan agreed that his statement to gardaí said Edward Fitzgerald had started the row. He also agreed that his statement described threats by Edward Fitzgerald to smash and burn down the accused’s house and burn down his mother’s house. He described William Gilsenan as “shaken” and “white in the face” after the first confrontation.

The trial was continuing.
