Wayne Kennedy found guilty of Shankill manslaughter

Wayne Kennedy was found guilty of manslaughter and not guilty of murder at the Central Criminal Court on 31 July 2015.

The offences arose from the death of David Spain in Shankill on 26 December 2013. Kennedy was also found not guilty of intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Sean Turner. The manslaughter verdict was returned by a majority of 11 to one, while the other acquittal was unanimous.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy remanded Kennedy in custody to be sentenced on 23 November 2015.
