Vesel Jahiri pleads not guilty to murder charge

By Gráinne Nolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Vesel Jahiri pleaded not guilty to murdering Anna Finnegan and to assaulting Karl Finnegan, causing him harm. Both alleged offences took place at Allendale Glen, Clonsilla, Dublin 15, on 21 September 2012. The proceedings were reported on 31 March 2017.

Detective Garda James Cunningham told the Central Criminal Court that Jahiri’s fingermark was identified on a black-handled knife. He agreed that, because Jahiri had lived at Allendale Glen, one would expect to find his fingerprints on objects in the house. Earlier evidence was that blood on the blade contained DNA matching Anna Finnegan.

The trial continued before Mr Justice Paul Coffey and a jury.
