The unnamed teenager’s murder conviction was upheld by the Court of Appeal on 2 November 2023, after he appealed his conviction for stabbing Urantsetseg Tserendorj to death in Dublin.
The court rejected all grounds of appeal. It found that evidence of a second attempted robbery was relevant to the jury’s consideration of the teenager’s state of mind, and that its probative value outweighed any prejudicial effect.
The Court of Appeal also ruled that the trial judge had not erred in admitting Ms Tserendorj’s account to her husband or in declining to discharge the jury over a prosecution remark. It dismissed the appeal against conviction.
