A man who cannot be named is on trial at the Central Criminal Court, accused of rape and assault, as reported on 21 November 2014. The alleged offences occurred in Co Kerry on 20 January 2011, with one alleged rape said to have taken place between Kerry and Limerick.

The man has pleaded not guilty to six counts. The prosecution alleges that he abducted his sister-in-law, sexually assaulted her and brought her to a pub; garda evidence is expected to address his denials and the discovery of a matching car at a scrap dealer.

The trial continues before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury of nine men and three women.
