Unite agrees not to trespass on Rhatigan sites

By Donal Gilhooly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Unite and several members gave undertakings in the High Court, reported on 9 October 2014, not to trespass on JJ Rhatigan sites or interfere with access. The dispute followed a picket at the Kishoge Community College construction site in Lucan over the company’s use of subcontractors rather than directly employed labour.

The undertakings also covered intimidation, assault and property damage. Picket numbers were limited at sites in Kishoge, Drumcondra and Griffeen Valley, while the judge granted an injunction restraining trespass and interference with access. The case was to proceed to a full hearing if no agreement was reached, and costs awarded to Rhatigan were stayed pending final resolution.
