Two 14-year-old boys were found guilty of murdering Ana Kriégel in Lucan. The first boy was also convicted of violently sexually assaulting her. Both boys had pleaded not guilty to all charges. The proceedings were reported on 18 June 2019.

Ana, 14, left home on 14 May 2018 with the second boy, who told her his friend wanted to see her. Her body was found three days later in a disused farmhouse.

The jury found that Boy B brought Ana to the house knowing what Boy A was going to do, provided the tape found around her neck and participated in the cover-up afterwards. The report said he watched the assaults. Mr Justice Paul McDermott presided over the seven-week trial, which heard from more than 60 witnesses.
