Tracey Tully’s High Court challenge over murder transfer resolved

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Tracey Tully’s High Court challenge over the transfer of the man convicted of murdering her son was resolved on 16 November 2022. The Minister for Justice rescinded approval for Logan Jackson’s transfer from an Irish prison to a UK prison, and the parties agreed the case could be struck out.

The State was ordered to pay the legal costs incurred by Tully and Jackson. Both Jackson and Tully’s representatives are expected to make fresh submissions to the Minister about any renewed transfer application.

Tully had challenged the proposed transfer, arguing that it would affect her ability to make submissions to UK authorities if Jackson applied for parole. The Minister denied that her rights had been breached and maintained the transfer had been lawfully approved.
