Tony Brady excluded from Special Criminal Court trial

By Donal Gilhooly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Tony Brady was excluded from the Special Criminal Court for the remainder of the Lordship Credit Union robbery trial after publishing a video accusing a garda of perjury and contempt of court. The proceedings were reported on 16 May 2023.

Mr Justice Tony Hunt said the exclusion was intended to preserve the integrity of participants in the process and was not a finding of contempt of court against Tony Brady. Tony Brady said he was expressing an opinion and believed his observation was correct.

The trial involved James Flynn and Brendan Treanor, who were charged with the €7,000 robbery at Lordship Credit Union in Bellurgan, Co Louth, on 25 January 2013, and with conspiring with Aaron Brady and others to enter homes intending to steal car keys. They pleaded not guilty to each charge.
