Tomasz Witkowski and Mariusz Sowa jailed for €1.3m cannabis
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Tomasz Witkowski and Mariusz Sowa were resentenced to six years for possessing cannabis for sale or supply by the Court of Appeal on 16 January 2020. The drugs, worth €1.3 million, were found at a house on Tullow Road, Co Carlow.
The Polish nationals had pleaded guilty and received two-and-a-half-year sentences in 2019. The court found those sentences unduly lenient, noting 65kg of cannabis, €21,000 in cash and evidence that the men were significantly involved in distributing the drugs throughout Ireland. Their guilty pleas and lack of previous convictions were treated as mitigating factors.
