Tina Brazil told the jury at Dublin District Coroner’s Court on 8 November 2023 that the Stardust fire crowd separated her from Carol Bissett as they tried to escape.

Brazil said she and Bissett had been holding hands before the crowd carried them in different directions. She later learned that Bissett died in hospital after the fire.

Brazil described thick black smoke and an obstruction at exit five, where people were trying to force the door open.

The inquest also heard evidence from other survivors about the fire and their attempts to escape.
